Time has flown by! It's amazing to know that John and I have been together for over a year now! To celebrate, we used my Timeshare and spent three days in Clear Lake. It was gorgeous out there, and we had a nice relaxing time.
The unique thing about the town was that you could go to just about any destination by car or by boat. Each winery, restaurant, etc. had a dock in the back so that patrons may park their boats and walk up the docks and have a glass of wine, dine, etc. It was pretty neat.
When we first arrived to the town, we saw a winery and decided to stop for a tasting. The Ceago winery was so pretty. It looked like a resort itself. It had an outside area where you could sit under umbrellas and order wine by the glass. It reminded me of being somewhere tropical. It was nice. John bought one bottle of wine from them.
We spent the rest of the three days at the resort. The really cool part about the resort was that the very first hour and last hour the pool and spa were open were for adults only. John and I spent that final hour on the first night in the spa. The next day, our actual anniversary, we went to the pool for a little bit of time. We also tried one of the local restaurant for breakfast and took a walk around a park. We decided to go shopping at a grocery store and bought steaks for dinner. We had cheese, crackers, fruit, and the Ceago wine we bought for lunch. We opened a Silver Oak wine to have with our steaks that night. We had been saving that bottle for the year. The rest of the time was spent reading and watching movies. It was truly just relaxing.
Gifts! Ok, so John is a big wine person. I have learned that not only must you have the correct type of wine glass for the wine you are drinking, but the actual manufacturer can make a difference in the taste of the wine as well. Of course, I can't taste the difference, but he can. I got John two Riedel Bordeaux, Sommelier Series, wine glasses (for the Silver Oak we had saved). At the resort, John only had one part of my gift. He gave me some books by my favorite author: Robert A. Heinlein. One of my gifts didn't come in until the day we left for our vacation, so when we got home, I opened two more gifts: an iPOD Classic and a case for it.
